I painted this colorful painting a few weeks ago for an exhbition in Vallastaden with Vallastaden art – konst och hantverk från Östergötland.

The view shows the iconic red bridge close to where I exhibited. What looks like a "roof" from this perspective is actually a construction made out of several free standing elements which - given the right time of day and the sun shining - create the coolest shadows. 

In my "Abbstract City Scapes" series I use black gesso to prime the board I am painting on. Some of the black gesso becomes the shadow or other dark areas of the view. In this case I used it also to symbolize the clouds in the background. Some say this gives this painting a liminal atmosphere, a space in between now and then or dream and reality.
